You’re in this for the long haul. And that is so important. Winning for the long haul brings joy to your team and ignites the passion within you to be a great leader. Your family can trust that you will give them your all. You have the creativy and drive to be your best in many areas of your life.
But, you wonder if there might be something missing.
The thought of living this healthy, vibrant, purpose filled life seems like only a dream. One that can’t come true. It seems like you will have to compromise a few parts of your life in order to achieve success. How can you find long term success like this without burnout and feeling overwhelmed?
Friends, we’ve been there. We know what it feels like to chase dreams, juggle work/life balance, fail, get back up and try again.
Friends, we wonder about the same things as you.
So, we want to be in this for the long haul with you and for you.
My name is Britton and I’m the founder of The Buffalo Way. I didn’t seek out to start a leadership program. It was born from a motivational talk I gave at work in December 2018. The talk was about why my favorite animal is the American Bison, or as we Americans affectionately call it, the Buffalo. It’s a majestic, rugged animal that is strong, resilient, and completely useful. It became a challenge to my audience and even earned me the nickname, “Buffalo Man”, at work. Yes, there are people at work who call me Buffalo Man!
I couldn’t escape the challenge. Strong. Resilient. Useful. It uncovered in me a primal desire to seek out what it looks like to live this way. I’ve been in the depths of loss with my identity and purpose. I’ve been in the high places of success. You and I walk the same path.
In 2016, I lost my “dream job”. My identity was absolutely stripped away. That moment forced me to ask myself – “Does what I do determine who I am or does who I am determine what I do?” In that respect, I had to absolutely start from scratch.
The Buffalo Way has challenged me to be a better husband, father, friend, and co-worker. To live my life in such a way that I can be strong, resilient, and useful for someone everyday. I’m not a business guru, but, I do understand that there’s a way to live each day to the fullest and not feeling weak, spiritless, and useless.
Now, I work for a Fortune 500 company and live in Fayetteville, Arkansas with my family. Laura and I were married in 2002 and have 3 fantastic kids in Gabe, Seth, and Madeline. We are currently in the process of adopting internationally.
If you have connected with my story, I’d love to hear yours as well. Hopefully, one day, we can make that happen.
My name is Russ and I know what it feels like to feel as if your current reality isn’t the life you imagined or dreamed for yourself. I felt stuck in a job that was meeting my families needs, but I wasn’t living out my purpose. It was just a job. I was successful in business, had an ability to build great teams, but as I drove home each day from work wondered if there was more. For years, I struggled to find purpose in my work.
The light went on for me when I realized I was the only one in charge of my time. I began to understand that I was the person who was going to wake up with my life the next day! So, I began to decide to do work that mattered, no matter the cost. I learned the value of resiliency and sacrifice. It wasn’t easy, but now, a few years down the road, I am doing work that matters. My work has purpose and is helping people find their passion.
My faith guides my decisions and work. I spent 12 years in finance and market research for Fortune 500 companies and am now the Young Life College Director at the University of Arkansas. I also own 2 E-commerce businesses specializing in outerwear and musical supplies.
I have the wonderful role of husband to my wife Jamie of 15 years, and dad to two amazing kids, Amelia and Elliott. We love adventure and live in Fayetteville, AR where we hike, bike, and raise our pack of lazy dogs.
Let’s go to work! Let’s do work that matters.
